A lamp earns its tag in a dark room

Before a pattern lamp gets a place on the shelf, we switch it on in a dark 12 × 12 ft room. If the pattern can’t reach the ceiling, it doesn’t get a tag. That’s the whole rule, and it’s why the projection shelf is short.
